The 2010 mid-term election season has begun. All Grundy County elected county offices will be contested (except Assessor of Property) and our State House (district 37) and U.S. Congress (district 4) representatives are also running for re-election. Monday, April 5th is the last day to register to vote in the May primary. The county Democratic Party will hold it's primary on May 4th. Altamont City elections will also be held that day.

The deadline for candidate registration has passed and all county candidates are now posted for the Democratic primary. Republican nominees and Independent candidates will appear on the August 5th county general election ballot.

Contact the Grundy County Administrator of Elections (931-692-3551) for other qualifying and deadline information.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press has a pretty good page to compare the gubernatorial candidates stand on various issues. Click here to visit that site.

Grundy County Herald Election Policy

Election announcements are printed once for each candidate in the Grundy County Herald free of charge and space will be provided on page 2 for these announcements.

All free announcements must be run at least six weeks prior to the election. This policy keeps one candidate from having an unfair advantage over another.

Rallies and platforms (after the initial announcement) are paid advertising. Ads must be labeled as political advertising and all political advertising must be prepaid at the time of placement.

Ads deemed libelous by the management of the newspaper will not be accepted for publication.

Charges made by any candidate in the last issue before the election will be submitted to other candidates for that office so they have an opportunity to respond to the allegations.
